homework key and Myxobolus

Here is the key to Homework 2.

Myxobolus is definitely an animal, but its taxonomic position is apparently uncertain.  From Wikipedia: "Today, the myxozoans, previously thought to be multicellular protozoans are considered animals by many scientists, though their status has not officially changed. Recent molecular studies suggest that they are related to Bilateria or Cnidaria, with Cnidaria being closer morphologically because both groups have extrusive filaments, but with Bilateria being somewhat closer in some genetic studies."

I forget where test two materials start, what slide set starts it?

Hi. Is test 2 really going to be hard (harder than the 1st), like you said in class?

1) Test 2 starts with the material after test 1, i.e. starting with Lactose Intolerance.
2) I don't really plan on making this test harder (I was kidding when I said that in class), but if you get complacent since you did well on the last test, it might seem harder.

Under the notes/slides titled Domestication: artificial selection, I kept seeing the phrase "divergent selection". Can you please refresh my memory on what it means. I wrote something, but it doesn't make sense. Thanks.

Divergent selection is selection that results in two populations become more dissimilar. For example, an ancestral species subject to divergent selection in two different populations resulted in cabbage looking very different from broccoli. Cabbage was selected for big leaves, broccoli for lots of flower heads.
